During his time in the Middle East, South and East Asia he became interested in different interpretations of 'knowledge'. Returning to academia in his '50s, he completed an MSc in Research Methods and a PhD from research into Chinese strategic problem solving enabling him to write and consult on cross-cultural strategic systems.
